“Ohio has become a national leader in breeding and racing Standardbreds. The OHHA board recognizes that, as an industry leader, it needs to be at the forefront of spearheading support for a uniform effort with respect to equine aftercare.”

The Standardbred Transition Alliance (STA) board of directors unanimously passed a resolution saluting and thanking the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association for its foundational support at its third annual meeting on February 6, 2021.

“Ohio horsemen have repeatedly made generous financial grants that have funded the work of the STA during its most critical formative years” said STA President David Reid, referring to over $300,000 in contributions made by the OHHA since its inception. “This support was vital to our organization and our efforts to provide meaningful services to transitioning standardbreds.”

Reid further recognized past OHHA president and founding STA board member Kevin Greenfield, along with current board member and OHHA Executive Director Renée Mancino, for their belief in the STA’s mission and the time and energy they have devoted to committee work.

Established in 1953, the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association is the only non-profit organization in Ohio serving Standardbred horse owners, breeders, trainers, drivers and fans who participate in the sport of harness racing in the Buckeye State. Their mission is to preserve, protect, promote and serve the entire Standardbred industry in Ohio and beyond.

“Ohio has become a national leader in breeding and racing Standardbreds. The OHHA board recognizes that, as an industry leader, it needs to be at the forefront of spearheading support for a uniform effort with respect to equine aftercare.”
